The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the most recognizable landmarks in New York City, so it’s no surprise that it is one of our most popular flying dress photoshoot locations.

The Brooklyn Bridge is arguably one of the toughest places to photograph, due to the high amount of foot traffic, but with a little dedication to setting that alarm clock, Flying Dresses New York is ready to make it happen – and it’s always worth the early rise!

Because the bridge and skyline are mostly neutral colors, this is a great place to choose a dress that really stands out.

Sunrise is our favorite, and honestly the only time we recommend. The bridge can get extremely crowded, so starting early gives you a much better chance of getting photos without hundreds of people in the background.

2. Dumbo

Just a short distance from the Brooklyn Bridge, DUMBO gives you a completely different look. The cobblestone streets, industrial buildings, Manhattan Bridge, and famous archway create one of the most recognizable urban backdrops in NYC.

This is one of our favorite places for a more fashion-forward and editorial flying dress photoshoot. The neutral colors of the buildings and pavement allow bright dresses to really pop.

Late afternoon and golden hour are great options for lighting. The lower sun can create beautiful light between the buildings and give the photos a warmer feel.

That being said, if you want an empty street, you’ll want to shoot early morning, about an hour after sunrise.

3. Central Park

If you want a more romantic NYC photoshoot, Central Park is one of the most versatile locations in the city.

Unlike some of the more architectural photography spots in New York City, Central Park gives you greenery, water, bridges, flowers, historic architecture, and seasonal scenery all in one location. That means your photos can feel completely different depending on when you visit and which part of the park we use.

It’s also one of our favorite locations for couples, birthdays, maternity sessions, and anyone looking for something a little softer than the typical NYC skyline photos.

🌸 Cherry blossom photoshoots in Central Park

Spring is one of the prettiest times for a Central Park photoshoot. When the cherry blossoms are blooming, the pink flowers create a naturally romantic backdrop for a flowing dress.

Light pink, white, hot pink, and even the olive green are beautiful choices if you want to complement the blossoms. If you want more contrast, red or royal blue can really stand out against the pink trees.

Because cherry blossom season is short, this is one of those photoshoots where timing is especially important. Morning is also a great choice if you want softer light and fewer people.

We love Central Park in the morning when the light is soft, but also golden hour is fantastic for lighting and capturing the colors of the sunset.

Unlike some of the other top photoshoot spots in NYC, Central Park has a lot more opportunities to do shoots all day long, especially on a day that’s not completely sunny.

4. Liberty State Park

For some of the best NYC skyline photos, you don’t actually have to be in New York City. In fact, one of our favorite photoshoot locations is in New Jersey!

Liberty State Park in Jersey City gives you the most stunning views across the Hudson River toward Manhattan. Instead of having one NYC landmark behind you, you can have the entire skyline stretching across the background. Not only that, but the Empty Sky Memorial is there, which is one of the most powerful monuments to capture.

Liberty State Park is also fantastic because it can be captured easily throughout the day without crowds. There’s plenty of green space, skyline views, and even the Statue of Liberty on the other side.
