In certain circumstances, the dresses work for themselves! Wind plays a huge part in assisting the look of the dress, which is easy to find in cities, especially in New York.
If you are indoors, or don’t have much wind, this is when an assistant comes into play. The assistant can pull, throw, or shake the ends of the dress to give it several different effects for stunning photo opportunities.
In order to pose with a long flow dress, the secret is movement! You can either run and take a burst shot, or you can have someone assist by throwing the dress in the air. If you are running, do not touch the train, as it will move effortlessly.

The flying dresses at Flying Dresses New York have a 3-meter train. We chose this length particularly so that they are long enough to give a dramatic effect, but not too long that they are impossible to manipulate.
The best times to do flying dress photoshoots are early in the morning, or from golden hour to sunset.
Sunset is the most ideal time, as it is a great way to escape the crowds, and have stunning lighting before the suns rays become too strong, giving harsh contrast and shadows. If you don’t mind crowds and are not an early riser, then we suggest going an hour before sunset for great for lighting.
One of the amazing things about flying dresses is that they are able to cover a lot of space in photos, and cover many people in the process! We know that NYC is a popular place, and crowds can be inevitable.
One of the great ways to hide people is to get creative with your shots, and shoot low. Have someone assist by lifting the dress and taking to photo from a low point to capture the background, while covering the people in the picture at the same time.
The Flying Dresses of Flying Dresses New York are made with high quality satin. The material has been specifically chosen as it is light and flowy, and shiny so that it pops in photos.
Our goal is that you have the most stunning photos possible! We don’t encourage shooting in the rain, or when the weather is very harsh. If the weather is not in our favor during your rental window, you may reschedule during any rental time slots.
We suggest monitoring the weather, so that we can make arrangements prior to your rental. Please do contact us as early as possible, so that we can offer you the best availability and options for receiving your dress.
Flying Dresses New York has a limited number of rentals, and for that reason we must have a strict no-show policy. Those that do not show up for reservations, will be charged 50% of the rental charge.
Change your mind in advance? That’s okay! Customers have until 1 week prior to their reservation to cancel, without any penalties.
We get it! Things happen, and not everything goes to plan. For that reason, we do have flexibility with our rentals, and will always make sure to figure out the best solution possible!
In case of any last-minute emergencies (missed flight, death in the family, etc.) you will be given a voucher to rent the dress in the future for up to two years from the original rental date, with no extra change-fee.
Remember, communication is key. Please let us know in advance, and we will be happy to accommodate you.
Flying dresses are very delicate, so it is important that you take a lot of care while you are shooting! It is very expensive for cleaning treatments, and if there is a rip we will need to have a new dress made all the way in Argentina. It’s for this reason that we do ask for a down payment, similar to any other rental you may do.
Dresses will be inspected upon retrieval by both parties. If there is a stain, we will hold the deposit until after the dress has been dry cleaned. If the stain is able to come out, you will only be charged the small extra fee if our cleaning partner charges us. If the stain is unable to be removed, we will unfortunately have to charge the amount that it will take us to produce another dress.
Flying dresses take a long time to make, and are very expensive to produce. For that reason, if a dress goes missing, we will have to charge an extra $1,000, which simply covers production and transportation.
